What Is a Residential Address? Sending Flowers to a Home in Russia

A residential address is the address of a home where someone lives, such as a house or a flat in an apartment building. For flower delivery to Russia, use the home where your recipient will actually receive the bouquet, including the city, street, building and flat number where applicable. A person's registered address is useful only if they will be there to accept the flowers.
If you are ordering from abroad, the difficult part is often understanding how the building details fit together. An address copied from an old message may identify the right street but omit a separate building number, entrance or flat. Before choosing a delivery time, check that the address is current and collect the access details that will help the courier reach your recipient.
Residential, registered and postal addresses: which one should you use?
For this purpose, a residential address answers a practical question: where can the recipient receive flowers? They may live in a rented flat while remaining officially registered at a family home elsewhere. Use their current location for the planned delivery, rather than assuming that an address on a document is the right destination.
A postal address is an address used to receive mail, and it may also be someone's home address. A P.O. box, however, does not tell a courier which home to visit or whom to meet there. If the only detail you have is a mailing address, establish whether it identifies an occupied home before placing a flower order.
There is also a difference between the recipient's address and your billing information. When ordering for someone in Russia from another country, keep their delivery details separate from your own contact details. Give the recipient's name as the person receiving the bouquet, and make clear which telephone number belongs to them so the arrival call reaches the right person.
How to write a Russian residential address clearly
A useful order for the details is: recipient's name, city or locality, street, house or building number, any additional building designation, and flat number. Include the region when it helps distinguish places with the same name, and the postcode if you know it. You can arrange these on separate lines so that each part is easy to check.
Additional building details deserve particular care. A main house number may be followed by a block or structure designation, and these can point to different buildings within one development. Keep the labels and numbers together exactly as supplied by the recipient. Do not merge a building number and flat number into a single number or guess what an unfamiliar abbreviation means.
For example, an address checklist could read: [recipient], [city], [street], [house number], [block or structure, if applicable], [flat], [postcode]. Add entrance, floor and access instructions separately. If you are working from an English transliteration, check the spelling and numbers against the recipient's version; our guide to formatting a Russian address explains how to organise the details.
Bouquets we can deliver
Add the details that help a courier reach the door
A complete street address may still leave an access question unanswered. In an apartment building, the entrance number, floor, intercom instructions and entry code can be useful. In a gated residential development, explain where visitors enter and how the recipient expects the courier to get access. Describe the actual route rather than relying only on a map pin.
Keep instructions short and observable: which entrance to use, which intercom button to press, or whether the recipient will meet the courier at the gate. Avoid vague directions such as 'the usual entrance'. If you do not know an entry code, say so; an invented code or an old instruction creates more confusion than a clearly identified missing detail.
Send address and access questions to a manager on WhatsApp. You can agree the address, delivery time and card text there, and ask for help choosing a bouquet or a photo of the bouquet before delivery. If a location is difficult to describe, explain the uncertainty before the order is confirmed so the delivery details can be discussed.
Choose a delivery time when someone can receive the flowers
Start with the recipient's routine. A home address is useful only if someone can receive the bouquet there at the agreed time. A birthday delivery may work best before the recipient leaves for dinner, while a person who works away from home may prefer a later window. If you are abroad, check the time difference and make clear that your requested time refers to the recipient's city.
Turboflora delivers flowers across Russia. In large cities, express delivery is available in 1–2 hours after the order is confirmed. You can also arrange delivery at an exact time with a tolerance of plus or minus 30 minutes, choose a 09–12, 12–15, 15–18 or 18–21 window, or pre-order 1–30 days ahead. Choose the option that fits the recipient's availability.
The courier calls the recipient about 15 minutes before arrival, so a surprise should allow for that contact. If the recipient is absent, we agree either a second delivery that day or, with the sender's consent, handing the flowers to a neighbour or concierge. If you have a preferred fallback, explain it when arranging the order instead of assuming another resident can accept the bouquet.
Choose a bouquet and message that suit a home delivery
Think about where the flowers will go after the handover. A recipient with limited table space may appreciate a manageable bouquet, while someone who enjoys arranging flowers may welcome stems they can arrange in a vase. If you do not know their preferences, describe the occasion and the colours they like when asking for help. A familiar favourite is a more personal starting point than a rule about what everyone should receive.
Flower meanings vary between people and cultures, so let the message explain your intention. Red roses often suggest romance, but they may feel too intimate for a professional thank-you or a new acquaintance. In Russian gift-giving, an odd number of flowers is customary for celebratory bouquets when the stems are being counted; even numbers are traditionally associated with mourning.
Delivery is anonymous by default: the courier does not name the sender. A card with your text is free, so sign it if you want the recipient to know who sent the flowers. A short message naming the occasion and expressing your feeling is usually enough. For a surprise at someone's home, consider whether an unsigned romantic message would delight them or leave them uncomfortable.
Check the order, then help the bouquet settle in
Before checkout, review the recipient's name and telephone number, the full residential address, access notes, delivery timing and card text. City delivery costs 500 RUB. For remote districts and suburbs, the operator confirms the delivery price when confirming the order. You can review the delivery and payment information alongside your chosen bouquet before completing the order.
Online checkout uses CloudPayments. If you are paying from abroad, check the options displayed at checkout; do not assume that every foreign-issued card will be accepted. Resolve any missing address information before the order is confirmed, particularly if your recipient has recently moved or you have only a building name. Accurate details give the delivery arrangement a clear starting point.
Once the flowers arrive, the recipient can prepare a clean vase, add fresh water and remove any leaves that would sit below the waterline. For a cut-flower bouquet, trim the stem ends with a clean, sharp tool before placing them in water. Keep the flowers away from direct sunlight, radiators and ripening fruit, and check the water daily. If the bouquet includes care instructions, follow those for its particular flowers.
Frequently asked questions
What does residential address mean?
It means the address of a home where someone lives, such as a house or flat. For flower delivery, use the address where the recipient will be available to receive the bouquet.
Does a residential address have to match a registered address?
For flower delivery, the relevant address is the place where the recipient can receive the flowers. If they live somewhere other than their registered address, use their current delivery location.
Can I send flowers if I know the building but not the flat number?
The building alone may leave the handover location unclear. Contact a manager on WhatsApp to discuss the missing detail and agree the address and delivery arrangements before confirmation.
Will the recipient know who sent the flowers?
The courier does not name the sender because delivery is anonymous by default. If you want to identify yourself, include your name in the free card message.
What happens if nobody is at the residential address?
If the recipient is absent, we agree a second delivery the same day or handing the flowers to a neighbour or concierge. Handover to a neighbour or concierge requires the sender's consent.
