How to Schedule Birthday Flower Delivery for a Specific Date and Make Sure It Arrives on Time

To schedule birthday flowers for a specific date, pre-order the bouquet in advance (with us, anywhere from 1 to 30 days ahead), pick either a three-hour window or an exact delivery time, and confirm the address, the recipient's phone number and the card text before the day. Then make sure the courier can reach the recipient: ours calls about 15 minutes before arrival, so a correct, working phone number is the single most important detail.

Birthday flowers are one of those gifts where timing is half the message. A bouquet that arrives at breakfast says you remembered; one that turns up the next afternoon says something rather different. Below is the practical sequence we recommend to customers ordering from abroad, the mistakes that most often cause delays, and how to plan around time zones, workplaces and surprise parties.

Step one: book early and pick the right kind of time slot

The best moment to order is as soon as you know the date. Pre-ordering one to thirty days ahead means the bouquet is planned into the florist's day rather than squeezed in, and you have time to change your mind about flowers or card text. Birthdays that fall on busy dates, such as around 8 March, 14 February or 1 September, are worth booking at least a week in advance.

Next, decide how precise the delivery needs to be. A time window of 09-12, 12-15, 15-18 or 18-21 suits most birthdays: you know roughly when the flowers will arrive and the recipient can plan to be home. If the moment really matters, for example you want the bouquet at the door just as your mother sits down to her birthday breakfast, or before a colleague leaves the office, choose an exact time; we deliver within 30 minutes either side of it.

If you have forgotten until the day itself, it is not too late. In large cities we offer express delivery within 1-2 hours after the order is confirmed. It is still worth sending the order as early in the day as you can, so there is room for the recipient's schedule.

Step two: get the details right before the day

Most delays on birthdays have nothing to do with the courier and everything to do with small gaps in the order. Write the full address including building, entrance, floor, flat number and intercom code if there is one. Russian apartment blocks often have several entrances, and a missing entrance number can cost twenty minutes.

Give the recipient's mobile number, not a landline, and double-check the country code: a Russian mobile starts with +7. If the birthday is a surprise and you do not want the call to spoil it, you can give the number of someone else in the household, such as a partner or flatmate, who will make sure the birthday person is home and answers the door.

Think about where they will actually be. If the birthday falls on a weekday, ask yourself whether your friend will be at work. Delivering to an office is perfectly normal in Russia, and a bouquet arriving at the workplace is a small celebration in itself, but add the company name, office number and how to get past reception.

Step three: plan around the time zone

When you order from abroad, the delivery time is always local time at the recipient's address. Moscow and St Petersburg are on UTC+3 all year round, with no summer time change, but Russia spans eleven time zones: Yekaterinburg is two hours ahead of Moscow, Novosibirsk four, Vladivostok seven. If you live in London or New York, a slot of 09-12 in Novosibirsk may already be over while you are still asleep.

The simplest approach is to think in the recipient's day, not yours. Decide when you want the flowers to arrive in their life, at breakfast, after they get home from work, before guests arrive for dinner, and book that local slot. If you want to phone them right after the bouquet arrives, pick an exact time so you know when to call. We explain more examples in our guide to scheduling flower delivery for a specific hour from abroad.

Remember too that the birthday date itself can shift across time zones. If you are in California and order on the evening of the 14th, it is already the morning of the 15th in Moscow. Always check the date at their end before choosing a delivery day.

Step four: confirm the order and see the bouquet before it leaves

Once you have paid online by bank card, SBP or Yandex Pay, it is worth a short message to our manager on WhatsApp if anything about the delivery is unusual: a tight time, an office reception, a surprise that has to stay secret, or a card text in Russian you would like help with. The manager can agree the time, address and card wording with you and send a photo of the bouquet before delivery, so you see exactly what your friend or relative will receive.

This photo is your peace of mind. You know the right flowers have been made, the card is in, and the order is ready for the courier. For more on how we handle each stage after the bouquet leaves, read how Turboflora confirms every delivery.

On delivery day itself, the courier calls the recipient about 15 minutes before arrival. If nobody is home, we agree a second delivery the same day or, with your consent, hand the flowers to a neighbour or concierge. So even if your sister has popped out to buy a birthday cake, the bouquet will not simply disappear.

Choosing birthday flowers that travel well through the day

If the bouquet might wait an hour on a reception desk or a neighbour's table, choose flowers that cope with it. Roses, chrysanthemums, alstroemeria, carnations and eustoma hold up well out of water for a while, while tulips and peonies in full bloom are more fragile.

Think about the person, too. Bright gerberas and sunflowers feel cheerful for a friend's birthday, soft pink roses or peonies suit a mother or grandmother, and a neat, modern arrangement works for a colleague. Remember the Russian custom of giving an odd number of stems in small bouquets; even numbers are reserved for mourning, though for large bouquets of more than a dozen stems nobody counts. You can browse options by occasion in our bouquets catalogue.

Finally, write the card. Delivery is anonymous by default and the courier will not name the sender, so if you want your friend to know who remembered, sign the card, which is free. A few warm lines in your own words are worth more than any long quote. We deliver bouquets across Russia in 1–2 hours.
